You’ve been ‘slogging it out’, trying so hard to get people to notice you, to buy your product, to pay you money for what you do, so you can:
- Quit your day job
- Stop feeling guilty for spending money on a business that’s going anywhere
- Feel like all this time and energy you’ve put into “your dream business” is not for nothing
- Get over your fear of failure and finally breathe a sigh of relief that it’s working.
You’re peddling your wheels, going as hard as you ‘think’ you can, but nothing seems to be working.
Then you hear about the latest success story – how ‘that’ person has just thrown it out into the universe and it’s all flowing back to them with rave reviews and abundant success.
You’re stalking them on social media, trying to find what it is that ‘they’ are doing and underneath it all, you feel down right pissed off.
You ‘pretend’ you’re not jealous, but deep down, you are seething.
You start saying things like…
“Why not me?”
You feel your energy leaking out of every pour of your body.
You feel your motivation waning.
You want to give up, throw in the towel and tell the world to go f*ck itself.
You’ve had enough!
But here’s the thing.
There is not a single person I’ve worked with who has been in this position (including myself!) who has not been the sole cause of this outcome.
It’s NOT that the ‘other’ person is better than you.
It’s NOT that no one is interested in what you have to say.
It’s NOT that you don’t come from a successful family.
It’s NOT that it’s never going to happen for you!
So what is it then?
It IS that you are terrified of failing.
Or, maybe succeeding.
I mean, how dare you be a success when you came from struggle? Or, how dare you earn more than your family or partner. Right?
It IS that you are standing behind the curtain, attempting to step out into the spotlight with absolute authenticity and belief in who you are and what you do, but as soon as you poke your head out towards the spotlight, you close your eyes and beg for everyone to look away.
“Don’t see me! Don’t look at me! Don’t speak to me and definitely do not question me!”
You run back behind the safety of that curtain.
And then, you question why your business is not being seen, recognized and accepted.
The reason is you are not allowing yourself to be seen.
It’s yes, no, yes, no, yes, no.
That level of indecisiveness tells me that you don’t believe in you.
And if you don’t believe in you, how do you expect others to?
Imagine what it would be like to step out onto that stage, unapologetic about who you are and what you stand for, believing wholeheartedly in you.
This doesn’t mean you have instant success, but what it does mean is that you will know, with absolute certainty, what you need to do and how you need to start doing it.
You will be drawn to the right people who can help you in areas that are not your forte.
You will make powerful decisions that lead to powerful outcomes.
You will learn quickly from mistakes and implement new strategies without feeling sorry for yourself – seeing it all as opportunity for growth.
You will be energized by what you do and how you do it.
And then, whatever the outcome, you are completely unattached because you will know with every ounce of your being that this IS your destiny.
This…or something better….
Now, how can anyone over-look that level of conviction?
